Plot:

A group of college students (Bobby, Nick, Melissa and her sister Kayla) on their way to Las Vegas has their car break down on an isolated dirt road miles from the interstate. They walk down the road and come across a house that appears deserted for some time.

Nick decides to break a window and enter the house. Nick fakes some screams that leads to Bobby breaking down the front door to find the joker. None of the phones work in the house, and they notice a stand alone garage off to the side of the house. They find a car inside the garage and decide to "borrow" it until they reach a town and rent a car for themselves. Melissa leaves a note with her phone number explaining their actions and leaves it at the house.

The four take off on their marry way, as the houses owner returns shortly afterwards. Little do they know that they had broke into the house, and stole a car from the psychopathic truck driver Rusty Nail.

The four stop off at the nearest truck stop for some lunch, but by now, Rusty has already tracked them down. Rusty kidnaps Bobby when he leaves the table and goes to the bathroom. Rusty then calls Melissa on her cell phone and informs "Goldie Locks" that he has her boyfriend and sets her and the rest of the group up for a game to play.

Personally, I didn't think this sequel was as good as the first one. I think it might have overplayed the dumbness that someone would do in a crisis. Rusty has the bunch destroy all their cell phones. Wouldn't one of them try to hide and conceal one for safe keeping? And Goldie Locks puts everyone else in danger so she can save her boyfriend. Nothing like, "Hey guys, I'm on my own for this one. If you want to join, I'd appreciate it. But this is my battle."

Secondly, I hated all the characters. Except Rusty. I hated him a little. I probably hated the fact that the film couldn't even get the same actor back to play him. The villain was a recast! That's BULLSH*T! I know Jason was re casted like a hundred times, but he never spoke. He just went around killing people with a hockey mask on. Simple. But Rusty Nail does talk, walk, appear on film. Lame.

As for the other four, Melissa was just a emotional basket case, Kayla was an immature b*tch, Nick was a complete f*ckin' moron, and Bobby...he spent most of the film tied and gagged, so there wasn't much to complain about. But when he did talk, his character sucked. But by far, Nick was the worst character in the film. He was Kayla's Internet boyfriend, who she hardly knew, but asked him to tag along for the ride. Nick played a "tough" guy rebel, who ended up being more of a loser in the end. I'm glad he died. Oops. Spoiler.

Joy Ride 2 was a good idea with bad execution. It eventually became the stereotypical teenie bopper horror film that had very little put into it. There were very few original scenes in it.

One of the only good scenes is when Rusty had Bobby and Nick play a game of Craps for punishment. Each rolled the dice and whatever number came up, there was a type of punishment that followed. That was cool and original.

The other cool scene in the flick was having Melissa (Nicki Aycox pictured right) strip down to her panties and bra. Unfortunately it wasn't ALL the way down, but that's as much TNA the film gave us. Take what you can get.

Hopefully they make a Joy Ride 3. Maybe it can wash the franchise's hands clean of this cookie cutter garbage. It's kind of sad when you enjoy the Hills Have Eyes sequel better than this one.

Misc. Movie Trivia:
-Film was released straight to DVD on October 7, 2008
-Nicki Aycox speaks fluent German
